We love our field trips! One of the parents at the school generously arranged a fire station visit for our school. The firefighters gave us a very thorough tour and we had a lovely time in the adjacent park. We followed up the station visit with stop at the Portland Fire Museum where we learned about the history of fire fighting.
Fleet week is an amazing opportunity to climb aboard a variety of ships. It was fascinating to meet members of several branches of the military and learn about the variety of jobs carried out on the water.
The Oregon Zoo is always a favorite with the Double Creek students. It is fascinating to watch different animals and think about their behaviors and habitats. Some of the animals also seemed to enjoy watching us.
Last year we enjoyed three different plays as a school: Oregon Children's Theater's Good, Northwest Children's Theater's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Southridge High School's performance of Sponge Bob the Musical. The kids were able to stay after Sponge Bob to talk to the actors and technicians and take a peek backstage. It's no wonder that the kids were later inspired to write and perform their own play!
Accidentally dressing as a rainbow is one of the talents of Double Creek kids.
