This spring our younger class enjoyed learning about Roman culture at the beginning of the Middle Ages. They were especially interested in the mosaics that have been uncovered by the archaeologists. Everyone wanted to try making their own fancy mosaic designs, so we capitalized on their enthusiasm and made mosaic stepping stones for our Mother's Day art project.
We used tumbled pottery pieces repurposed from salvaged plates. The kids enjoyed the puzzle like nature of the activity and spent many days picking out just the right pieces.
The nitrile gloves were a big hit.
The finished products were beautiful!
